The five best shows coming to Netflix in April

A new month can only mean one thing… a whole new set of TV series and films to binge-watch on Netflix.

    War and Peace

As of April 1st, the BBC’s 2015 adaptation of Tolstoy’s classic will be available for unlimited viewing. The story follows the lives of three young people experience love and loss during Russia’s wars against Napoleon – cue fabulous period dress, excellent music and *spoiler alert* a fair few tears.

    Matilda

This classic film about a young girl who discovers she can use magic to get back at her parents and evil teacher is a firm favourite of, well, everyone. And if that description isn’t enough, Rusted Root’s upbeat soundtrack song ‘Send Me On My Way’ is enough to put you in a good mood for the day.

    Girl Boss

The latest Netflix original series, Girl Boss follows the story of Nasty Gal founder Sophia Amoruso’s journey into fashion. Produced by Amoruso herself, alongside Charlize Theron and Kay Cannon and filmed in San Francisco and Los Angeles, the show is guaranteed to be worth a watch.

    Last Tango in Halifax

A BBC show at its best, Last Tango in Halifax follows the lives of two families in rural Yorkshire brought together after their grandparents, who were childhood sweethearts, fall in love again in their seventies. Heartwarming, funny – and very British.

    Schindler’s List

The film follows the life of Oskar Schindler, an ethnic German businessman, who saved the lives of more than a thousand mostly Polish-Jewish refugees from the Holocaust by employing them in his factories. This 1993 film directed by Steven Spielberg may not be lighthearted hangover viewing – but it’s a classic for a reason.
