5 London restaurants to try this Valentine’s day

With Valentine’s day fast-approaching, the clock is ticking for locating (and booking) that perfect, romantic dining setting.

So, we’ve selected five restaurants in the capital all brimming with character, and offering a diverse variety of global cuisines to satisfy all tastes, to ensure this V-day goes by without a hitch.

  1. Camino, Kings Cross

Located in the well-connected area of Kings Cross, Camino offers a taste of Spain amidst the bustle of St Pancras International.

With a selection of Iberian tapas plates to satisfy all tastebuds, the restaurant combines the timeless appeal of reasonably-priced, yet consistently delicious food, all within a rustic, authentically Spanish setting.

With exposed brick-walls, and an open courtyard area ideal for smokers, Camino also boasts an extensive wine menu from all corners of Spain.

Spoilt for choice? Opt for their signature arroz negro, alongside all the well-loved classics such as patatas bravas, and small sharing plates of delightfully nutty Manchego cheese and matured Serrano Jamon.

2. NAC, Mayfair

Just across the street from Selfridges and the constant buzz of Oxford Street, lies the discreet exterior of North Audley Cantine (NAC). The French bistro specialises in sharing plates with influences from all over the world, alongside great cocktails, and all in a relaxed, dimly-lit, cosy setting.

With a wide array of culinary offerings, there’s plenty to whet your appetite. If you’re feeling particularly indulgent, opt for the truffle mac and cheese, it’s truly scrumptious.

3. Artigano, Belsize Park

With italian long referred to as the language of ‘amore’, it seems fitting to select an intimate Italian setting for this Valentine’s day.

You can’t go wrong with Artigano’s modern offering, which serves classic pescatarian dishes such as branzino and linguine alle vongole. For the carnivores amongst you, try the freshly homemade pasta al ragu, or the equally delicious veal scallops seasoned with fragrant lemon, which all present fine choices.

Coupled with the vast selection of italian wines on offer, this open-plan restaurant is tucked away in the leafy streets of North London’s Belsize Park neighbourhood, perfect for an after dinner stroll.

4. Kami, Kentish Town

Having recently undergone a sleek makeover, the interior of Kami seems more apt for Mayfair than the unassuming location of Kentish Town.

What’s more, the tasting menu (£58 per head) removes the trouble of narrowing down what you want to try, offering a chance to sample all the restaurant’s best dishes, such as fresh-out-of-water sashimi, crispy tempura and chicken yakidori.

Plus, the night need not end after dinner, with nearby cocktail and wine bars such as Neighbour and Nowhere special, which offer plenty of atmosphere after-dark.

5. La Bodega Negra, Soho

Whilst your partner may be less than impressed when you arrive at La Bodega Negra’s X-rated neon exterior, beneath lies one of Soho’s persistently trendy culinary gems.

Don’t let first impressions phase you, below is an intimate cellar which is host to a suitably seductive, dimly-lit restaurant with some of Soho’s best Mexican cuisine and Tequila-based cocktails.
