President Trump has opened up in an interview about his first 100 days in office.

President Donald Trump has admitted that he had thought life at the White House would have been easier, as he reaches the milestone of 100 days in office.

“I loved my previous life. I had so many things going,” Trump revealed in an exclusive Reuters interview.

“This is more work than in my previous life. I thought it would be easier.”

Donald Trump, who is a wealthy real-estate magnate, has had a career in business that has spanned more than 40 years and has not been short of controversy. His campaign to the White House was dogged with claims of tax evasion and concerns over his increasingly divisive and inflammatory rhetoric, which spurred a new wave of nationalism and populism.

Nevertheless, in one of Washington’s most stunning upsets to date, Trump defied pollsters and secured his first political office from seasoned Washington politician and former Secretary of State Hillary Clinton.

The interview marks the milestone of Trumps first 100 days in office as the 45th President of the United States. Despite still being early days of Trump’s first term, it has been an eventful few months for the native New Yorker as he adjusts to Washington and the complex arena that is geopolitics.

In recent weeks, tensions with North Korea have severely escalated given rise to concerns over a potential nuclear conflict, should the situation continue to worsen.

In response to the growing diplomatic crisis, this week Trump hosted an unprecedented meeting at the White House with all members of the U.S Senate, to discuss courses of action to dilute the situation with North Korean leader Kim Jung-Un.

When asked about the situation during the interview, the president did assert that there is a serious chance of “major, major conflict” with North Korea, as resolving the issue diplomatically looks to be “very difficult”.

Alongside unfolding events in the South Pacific, the Trump administration is also the centre of a controversy regarding former National security adviser Michael Flynn, who allegedly failed to disclose payments he received from the Russian government. Receiving payments from foreign governments remains illegal for government officials under U.S law.

Michael Flynn is currently under formal investigation by the Pentagon over the undisclosed paid speech appearances, amid concerns over conflicts of interests. Whilst many Democrat politicians have accused the Trump administration of a cover-up, the Press secretary attempted to attribute blame to the Obama administration for giving Mr Flynn security clearance.
