Scottish craft brewer BrewDog is back on CrowdCube for another crowdfunding round, reaching its minimum target less than a week after the campaign went live.

The brewery is infamous in the UK crowdfunding space, having raised more than $30 million from UK investors with its Equity for Punks crowdfunding campaign. Its latest initiative seeks to raise a further £500,000 to £10,000,000 and offers a 7.5 percent interest rate, and is already overfunded.

BrewDog owns breweries in both Ellon, Scotland and Columbus, Ohio and have been named in the Sunday Times Fast Track 100 list 5 years running. Their flagship Punk IPA beer is the Number 1 craft beer in UK supermarkets and their beers are available in 60 countries around the world.

The company said of their beer:

“Known not only for its bold, uncompromising, flavourful beer, BrewDog has reached audiences far and wide with its innovative and unrestrained marketing. As opposed to spending heavily on above the line advertising, BrewDog has repeatedly found ways to rack up column inches with its alternative, educational and entertaining takes on beer. From brewing a beer at the bottom of the North Sea to storming the bank of England with a tank to launching its record-breaking Equity for Punks crowdfunding programme, BrewDog’s reputation is as worth talking about as its beer.”

The company was founded in 2007 by James Watt, a Law & Economics graduate who was awarded Great British Entrepreneur of the Year in 2014 and Martin Dickie, a qualified brewer setting out to “change people’s perceptions about beer and challenge their tastebuds”.

The funds from the current round of crowdfunding will be used to expand into more international markets, as well as invest in BrewDog’s Aberdeenshire brewery in order to be able to cope with the increasing global demand.
