Barclays chief Jes Staley could receive £22m bonus

Barclays boss Jes Staley quit earlier this week after reports of his relationship with sex offender Jeffrey Epstein.

In the latest development, Staley is expected to get bonuses of up to £22m following his departure of the bank.

He already has 5.7m shares in the bank, which are worth around £11m.

His relationship with Epstein has come under scrutiny after it was revealed he met him on a private island, whilst telling his colleagues he was “going nowhere”.

Staley has known Epstein since 2000 and last year commented: “Obviously I thought I knew him well, and I didn’t. For sure, with hindsight, with what we know now, I deeply regret having any relationship with Jeffrey.”
