Bernie Sanders: Trump is a “pathological liar”

Sanders brands Trump as a "pathological liar" on MSNBC.

Vermont senator and former Democratic presidential candidate has labelled Donald Trump a “pathological liar” on MSNBC’s “All In with Chris Hayes”.

Calling the President-elect out on his regular U-turns and untrue statements, Sanders believes real change can only come from grassroots America.

“What do you do when you have a President-elect, soon to be President, who – and I say this not happily but I think most people who observe him would agree – is a pathological liar who changes his mind every single day?

“The answer – I am working very hard on this, and we need the help of the American people obviously – is to build a movement of millions of people who actually are following reality.

“That’s the challenge. Real change in this country – I am more and more convinced of it – is not going to come from Capitol Hill, it’s going to come from grassroots America.” said Bernie Sanders on Thursday.

Trump has been found guilty of making many untrue statements in throughout the election process. Just last month he claimed that the US election had been undermined by the “millions of people who voted illegally” – a statement he was unable to provide evidence for.

One issue the President-elect appears to constantly change his mind on is climate change. Whilst previously referring to the global phenomenon as a “hoax invented by the Chinese”, he recently suggested there might be “some connectivity” between human activity and climate change in an interview with the New York Times.

Since these statements and suggestions that he might be softening his denial on climate change, the President-elect announced Scott Pruitt as his choice for the new head of the Environmental Protection Agency (EPA).

Head of the Environmental Working Group, Ken Cook, told the New York Times that it’s a “safe assumption that Pruitt could be the most hostile E.P.A. administrator toward clean air and safe drinking water in history”
