Trump administration attack Trudeau for “double-crossing”

Donald’s Trump’s chief economic adviser has lashed out at Justin Trudeau for “essentially double-crossing President Trump”.

In an interview with CNN on Sunday, Larry Kudlow accused the Canadian prime minister of playing a “sophomoric political stunt for domestic consumption”.

Following Trudeau’s comments and his plans for Canada to “move forward with retaliatory measures”, in response to the US government’s decision to impose tariffs on aluminium and steel imports from the EU, Mexico and Canada.
“Based on Justin’s false statements at his news conference, and the fact that Canada is charging massive Tariffs to our U.S. farmers, workers and companies, I have instructed our U.S. Reps not to endorse the Communique as we look at Tariffs on automobiles flooding the U.S. Market!” tweeted the US President.
The attacks towards Trudeau continued over the weekend, with Trump’s trade adviser Peter Navarro saying the Canadian prime minister deserved  “a special place in hell”.
“There’s a special place in hell for any foreign leader that engages in bad faith diplomacy with President Donald J Trump and then tries to stab him in the back on the way out the door and that’s what Bad Faith Justin Trudeau did with that stunt press conference,” he said on Fox News.
Canadian Foreign Minister Chrystia Freeland responded to the White House, telling reporters in Quebec City: “Canada does not conduct its diplomacy through ad hominem attacks … and we refrain particularly from ad hominem attacks when it comes from a close ally.”
Trump was not present for the whole G7 meeting, arriving late and leaving Canada earlier than fellow leaders. The US President also expressed anger over Russia’s absence of the G7 group.
