Theresa May has ‘no intention of resigning’

Theresa May has said she has no intention of resigning, despite losing her parliamentary majority.

Senior Conservatives have confirmed that the incumbent Prime Minister is aiming to remain in her post and form a government, after losing several seats to Labour and falling short of a majority.

The results came as a blow to the Conservatives, with Theresa May calling an election back in April in order to strengthen her hand when entering Brexit negotiations. A surge of support for Labour led to a predicted ‘landslide victory’ for the Conservatives falling by the wayside.

May is now in negotiations with the Northern Irish DUP Party in order to form a majority parliament.
