FirstGroup’s new London-Edinburgh line to launch

Commuters are set for further dismay with train prices to rise in January 2017.

FirstGroup will be launching the new budget direct London-Edinburgh rail service next month.

The cheaper service will be a cheap and more green alternative to flying. Currently, more people fly between the two destinations.

A single journey will start at £14.90, which is roughly half of what is currently offered. The maximum journey cost of £69 one way will be £69.

“Travelling in the UK should not cost a fortune and it certainly shouldn’t be the planet that pays. Whatever your preferred mode of transport, we are likely to be more affordable and kinder to the planet,” said Helen Wylde, the managing director of Lumo.

“We believe everyone has the right to travel in style. We are empowering people to make green travel choices that are genuinely affordable without compromising on comfort.”
